Voopoo splits its pods into two designs and knowing which one your device uses saves a wasted order. Some have the coil bonded in, so when the coil is finished you replace the whole pod. Others are sold empty and accept a separate push fit coil, which is cheaper to run. Anything described as an empty pod or a cartridge needs a coil bought alongside it.
Which Voopoo pod fits your device
Match the pod to the exact model name printed on your kit. Argus Replacement Pods are cut for the Argus range and the Argus Snap takes its own version, while the Argus Air uses smaller cartridges at £2.99. The Vinci line splits several ways: original Vinci pods at £4.99, Vinci V2, Vinci E and Vinci PnP X. Vmate has an original top fill pod and a V2 pod. None are interchangeable, because magnet spacing and airflow channels differ between generations.
Empty pods and the coil families
PnP is Voopoo's longest running coil family and it appears across the Drag, Vinci and Argus lines. If you already have PnP coils in a drawer, a PnP empty pod will take them. PnP X is the larger cartridge version and it uses PnP X coils rather than standard PnP. ITO is the newer family used in the slimmer pod kits and ITO-X extends it. TPP sits at the sub ohm end. The family name is stamped on the coil itself, so pull the old one out and read it.
Resistance, wattage and how they feel
Coil resistance decides the draw. Anything at or above 1.0 ohm is a mouth to lung coil, running at low wattage on a tight draw and pairing with 10ml nic salts at up to 20mg per ml. Below 1.0 ohm is a direct to lung coil, wanting more power, more airflow and a high VG shortfill at low nicotine strength. Voopoo prints a recommended wattage range on each coil. The bottom of that range gives longer coil life while the top gives more vapour.
Priming and pod lifespan
Prime every new pod before you use it. Drip e-liquid onto the exposed cotton until it darkens, fill the pod, then leave it standing for five minutes. Take the first few draws gently at a lower wattage. Skipping that routine is the most common reason a brand new pod tastes burnt. Expect one to two weeks from a pod in normal use. Mesh coils hold flavour more consistently across their life than older round wire builds.
What shortens a pod's life
Sweetener is the main culprit. Heavily sweetened dessert, candy and cola flavours contain sucralose that caramelises onto the coil, which can halve the life of a pod. Light fruit and menthol blends are kinder. Chain vaping, running a pod near empty and using a liquid too thick for the coil resistance all bring the end forward.
Capacity, refilling and buying
Pods sold in the UK are capped at 2ml because tanks and pods containing nicotine e-liquid are limited to that capacity under the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations. Refill through the fill port rather than the mouthpiece, leave a small air gap so the pod can pressurise and wipe the contacts before reseating it. How do I know which Voopoo pod my device takes?
Read the full model name from the base of your kit and match it word for word to the product title, including any suffix such as V2, E, Snap or Air. Voopoo changes pod dimensions between generations, so a Vinci pod will not fit a Vinci V2.
What is the difference between an empty pod and a replacement pod?
A replacement pod has the coil built into it, so you replace the whole thing when the coil is spent. An empty pod or cartridge is sold without a coil and accepts a separate push fit PnP, PnP X, ITO or TPP coil. Empty pods work out cheaper to run, though you do need to buy coils separately.
Will my PnP coils fit a PnP X pod?
No. Despite the shared name, PnP and PnP X are different sizes and are not interchangeable. Standard PnP coils fit standard PnP pods and PnP X cartridges take PnP X coils. The family name is printed on the coil itself, so pull your old one out and read it.
How long does a Voopoo pod last?
One to two weeks is typical. Heavily sweetened dessert, candy and cola e-liquids can cut that in half because the sucralose in them caramelises onto the coil. Lighter fruit and menthol blends are gentler. When flavour turns dull or burnt and vapour drops off, the pod is finished.
Why does my new pod taste burnt straight away?
Almost always because it was not primed. Drip e-liquid onto the exposed cotton until it darkens, fill the pod, then let it stand for five minutes before the first draw. Start at a lower wattage for the first few puffs. Once cotton has been scorched it cannot be recovered.
Why are Voopoo pods only 2ml?
UK regulations limit any tank or pod containing nicotine e-liquid to 2ml, so every pod sold here is built to that size. It is the same rule that caps nicotine e-liquid at 20mg per ml and nicotine bottles at 10ml. Refillable pods let you top up as often as you like.
