Vaporesso Coils
Replacement coils are the part of a Vaporesso tank or pod that does the actual work. The coil holds the wicking cotton and the heating element, so when flavour drops away it is the coil that needs changing rather than the device. Compatibility is the only thing that really matters when you are reordering. Vaporesso coil families are not interchangeable. A GTX coil will not fit a GT Core tank and a QF coil will not fit a GTX pod. The family name is printed on the side of every coil and stamped on the base of most tanks.
The Vaporesso coil families
GTX
GTX is the broadest family Vaporesso makes and the one most likely to be the answer. It spans mesh heads for direct to lung vaping alongside higher resistance heads for a tighter mouth to lung draw. Listed at £9.99.
GTi
GTi is the newer mesh family used across more recent Vaporesso tanks and pod kits. These are mesh throughout and aimed at flavour on a direct to lung or restricted direct to lung draw. Listed at £9.99.
GT Core
GT Core is a long running sub ohm family covering both mesh and traditional round wire heads. Listed at £7.99.
GTM and QF
GTM and QF are both sub ohm families built for higher wattage tanks with vapour production as the priority. QF is mesh. Both are listed at £5.99, which makes them the two cheapest packs here. Orca Solo coils, which serve the Orca Solo pod range, are the sixth listing and are out of stock at the time of writing.
Mesh against round wire
A round wire coil is a coiled length of wire wrapped around the wick. A mesh coil uses a flat perforated strip instead. Mesh heats evenly across a much larger surface area, which normally means a faster ramp up, a cleaner flavour and slightly longer life at a given wattage. Most current Vaporesso coils are mesh.
Resistance and wattage
Every coil has its resistance in ohms and its recommended wattage range printed on the side. Treat both as instructions rather than suggestions. Coils below 1.0 ohm are sub ohm coils for direct to lung vaping with high VG shortfills at low nicotine strengths. Coils above 1.0 ohm are mouth to lung coils for a tight draw with a 50/50 liquid such as a 10ml nic salt at up to 20mg per ml.
Priming a new coil
This step decides whether a coil lasts two weeks or two puffs. Drip e-liquid straight into the wicking ports until the cotton is visibly wet, fill the tank or pod then leave it standing for at least five minutes before the first draw.
What shortens coil life
Sweet dark e-liquids are the main culprit. The sucralose used in dessert, candy and cereal flavours caramelises onto the mesh and builds a layer that stops the cotton wicking. Menthol and light fruit blends run far cleaner. Chain vaping, running above the printed wattage range and letting the tank run low are the other three common causes.

Which Vaporesso coil does my device take?
Check the family name printed on the side of your current coil. The base of the tank usually carries the model name as well. Vaporesso families are not cross compatible, so a GTX coil will not fit a GT Core tank. If you are unsure, call the team with the model to hand.
How long does a Vaporesso coil last?
One to two weeks is normal in everyday use. Sweet dark e-liquids cut that down sharply because the sweetener in them caramelises onto the mesh. Menthol and light fruit blends are far kinder to a coil. You will know it is time to change when flavour goes dull or burnt and vapour output drops off.
How do I prime a new coil?
Drip e-liquid into the wicking ports on the side of the coil until the cotton looks saturated. Fit the coil, fill the tank or pod and leave it standing for at least five minutes. Take two or three draws without firing to pull liquid through, then run it at the low end of the printed wattage range for the first tank.
What is the difference between mesh and round wire coils?

What e-liquid should I use with a sub ohm Vaporesso coil?
Anything below 1.0 ohm wants a high VG shortfill, typically 70/30, at a low nicotine strength of 0mg to 6mg. Thin 50/50 liquid will seep through a sub ohm coil and flood the device. Coils above 1.0 ohm are the opposite and want a 50/50 blend such as a 10ml nic salt at up to 20mg per ml.
