Rolls
Rolling paper rolls are one continuous strip of paper on a spool instead of a booklet of pre cut leaves. You pull out as much as you need, tear it against the cutter built into the lid and roll to whatever length suits. This collection holds 7 rolls from Raw, Elements, Blazy Susan and Juicy Jays, with prices opening at £1.69. All seven were in stock when this page was written.
The appeal is flexibility. A booklet locks you into one fixed size. A roll lets you make something shorter than a kingsize leaf or considerably longer. It also works out cheaper per length than the equivalent number of booklets.
What is in this collection
The seven products listed here are the Raw Classic Kingsize 3m Rolls, the Raw Black Classic Kingsize 3m Rolls, the Raw Organic Hemp 5m Rolls, the Elements King Size Rolls, the Juicy Jays 15ft Flavoured Paper Rolls and the Blazy Susan High Roller Kits in pink and purple, which pair a roll with tips in the same pack.
Paper types and what they change
Classic unbleached
Raw Classic is an unbleached blend with a natural light brown colour. It burns at a steady even rate and brings very little character of its own.
Black and ultra thin
Raw Black is the thinnest paper in the Raw line up. Less paper means less of it to notice. Thin papers take more care to handle without tearing, so they suit people who already roll comfortably.
Organic hemp
Raw Organic Hemp is made from unbleached organically grown hemp fibre. It has more texture than the classic paper, which many people find easier to grip while rolling. At 5m it is the longest Raw roll here.
Rice and flavoured papers
Elements is a rice paper. Rice papers are very thin and burn slowly and evenly, leaving little ash. Juicy Jays takes a different approach and puts flavour into the paper itself. The 15ft roll gives you a long run of a single flavour.
Sizes and lengths
Roll lengths are quoted in metres or feet. 3m and 5m are the two common sizes here, while the Juicy Jays roll is quoted at 15ft, a little over 4.5m. Width matters as much as length. Kingsize is the standard wider format and 1 1/4 is the narrower classic size.
Using a roll
Most rolls come in a small tin or plastic case with a metal cutting edge set into the lid. Pull the paper out to the length you want, hold it flat against the cutter and tear across in one smooth motion. Judge the length before you pull, because a strip torn too short cannot be put back.
The gum line runs along one edge for the full length of the roll. Check which edge it is on before you start, since a plain strip gives you no seam to follow. Tips are sold separately unless the pack includes them, as the two Blazy Susan kits do.
Storage and age restrictions
Paper takes moisture out of the air. Keep the tin closed and store rolls somewhere dry at normal room temperature. A damp roll tears unevenly and will not hold a crease. Long spells in direct sunlight dry out the gum along the edge.
Rolling papers are smoking accessories. They are sold in the UK to adults aged 18 and over only and every order is age checked before it leaves the warehouse. Papers are supplied on their own with no tobacco or any other smoking material included. UK delivery is free on orders over £20 and the team is on 07827 210361 between 8.30am and 4.00pm.
Rolling paper roll questions
What is the difference between a roll and a booklet of papers?
A booklet holds pre cut leaves at one fixed size. A roll is a single continuous strip on a spool, so you decide the length each time by pulling out what you need and tearing it against the cutter in the lid. Rolls suit anyone who wants something longer than a kingsize leaf.
How long is a roll of rolling paper?
It depends on the product. The Raw Classic Kingsize and Raw Black Classic Kingsize rolls in this collection are 3m each. The Raw Organic Hemp roll is 5m. The Juicy Jays flavoured roll is 15ft, which works out at a little over 4.5m.
What is the difference between hemp, rice and classic papers?
Classic papers such as Raw Classic are an unbleached blend with a natural brown colour. Hemp papers are made from hemp fibre and have a slightly rougher texture that many people find easier to grip. Rice papers such as Elements are very thin and burn slowly and evenly.
Do rolls come with tips?
Not as standard. Most rolls are paper only. The two Blazy Susan High Roller Kits in this collection are the exception, since each pairs a roll with tips in the same pack. Tips and filter tips are also sold separately if you would rather choose your own.
Where is the gum on a rolling paper roll?
The gum runs as a thin strip along one long edge of the paper for the entire length of the roll. Because the strip is continuous there is no seam to guide you, so it is worth checking which edge carries the gum before you tear a length off.
Do I need to be 18 to buy rolling papers?
Yes. Rolling papers are smoking accessories and UK law restricts their sale to adults aged 18 and over. Every order is age checked before dispatch and identification may be requested. UK delivery is free on orders over £20.
