Mechanical Mods
A mechanical mod is a vape device with no chipset. There is no board, no wattage control and no safety cut off. The switch closes a circuit between the battery and the atomiser, so whatever voltage the cell is holding goes straight to your coil. This collection holds 16 products covering full mechanical mods plus the replacement contact pins, clutches and housings that keep them serviceable.
That simplicity is the appeal. A mech has almost nothing in it to fail and the voltage sag as the cell drains gives a distinctive ramp that regulated devices smooth out. It also means every safety decision falls to you, which is why mechanical mods are for experienced builders only and never a first device.
Ohm's law is not optional
On a regulated mod the chip refuses a build it cannot handle. On a mech nothing refuses anything. You work out the current draw yourself before you fire it, then check that figure against the continuous discharge rating of your battery. A 0.15 ohm build on a fully charged 4.2 volt cell pulls 28 amps, beyond what many 18650 cells will deliver safely. If that calculation is not something you can do from memory, a regulated box mod is the right choice.
Batteries and cell condition
Most mechs in this class run 18650, 20700 or 21700 cells and the format is stated in the product title. Use authentic cells from a known manufacturer and replace any cell with a torn or nicked wrap immediately, because the tube itself is part of the circuit and a damaged wrap is a short waiting to happen. Marry cells in pairs where a device takes two, charge them together and carry them in a plastic case rather than loose in a pocket.
Stacked mods
The Overpowered 21700 Stack V2 at £74.99 runs cells in series, which doubles the voltage delivered to the coil. Stacked devices magnify every mistake because a hard short at eight volts behaves very differently to one at four. They demand higher resistance builds, well matched cells and a hybrid safe atomiser with a protruding 510 pin.
What is in the collection
Vaperz Cloud is represented by the Saga Series Mechanical Mod at £79.99, a limited edition tube from a brand with a long standing reputation for solid contacts and clean machining. The Timesvape NOTION MTL Mechanical Mod sits at the opposite end at £9.99, built for a tight mouth to lung draw rather than big power. Between them sits the Overpowered 21700 Stack V2.
Spares and servicing
The rest of the collection is Overpowered V2 spare parts. The replacement 510 contact pin at £3.50 wears first on any tube mech, because it carries the full current and takes the load every time an atomiser is screwed down. The button clutch at £10.00, its housing at £3.50 and the clutch pin at £5.00 cover the firing mechanism. Keeping these in a drawer is what separates a mod that lasts a decade from one that gets shelved. Oxidation on brass or copper contacts also raises resistance, which shows up as a softer, weaker hit long before anything looks wrong.
Buying and delivery
Mechanical mods are sold to adults aged 18 and over only and every order is age verified before dispatch. UK delivery is free on orders over £20. Cells are not included with these devices. Mechanical mod questions answered
What is a mechanical mod?
It is an unregulated vape device with no circuit board. Pressing the switch connects the battery directly to the atomiser, so the coil receives whatever the cell is holding at that moment and the output drops as the battery drains. There is no wattage control, no screen and no safety cut off of any kind.
Are mechanical mods suitable for beginners?
No. Every safety check that a regulated mod performs automatically becomes your responsibility on a mech. You need to be confident calculating current draw from coil resistance, confident reading a battery's continuous discharge rating and confident assessing the condition of your cells. Anyone new to vaping is far better served by a regulated kit.
What resistance should I build on a mechanical mod?
That depends on your cell rather than on preference. Divide the fully charged cell voltage of 4.2 by your coil resistance to get the amp draw, then confirm it sits inside the battery's continuous discharge rating. Most single cell mech users stay above 0.2 ohm. Series devices need higher resistance again.
What is a hybrid connection and why does it matter?
On a hybrid mod the atomiser's 510 pin touches the positive terminal of the battery directly with no insulated pin in between. If the atomiser has a flush or recessed pin, that creates a dead short across the cell. Only fit atomisers with a clearly protruding, adjustable 510 pin to a hybrid device and check the pin every time you change tanks.
Which spare parts wear out first?
The 510 contact pin, because it carries the full current and takes the load every time an atomiser is tightened down. After that it is the firing mechanism, which is why the Overpowered V2 button clutch, clutch pin and clutch housing are stocked separately. Oxidised contacts should be cleaned rather than replaced.
How much do mechanical mods cost?
Stock in this collection runs from £9.99 for the Timesvape NOTION MTL mech up to £79.99 for the limited edition Vaperz Cloud Saga Series. Spare parts sit between £3.50 and £10.00. Availability in this category changes often because many of these are limited runs, so the product page price is the one that applies.
