Vape Mods
A vape mod is the powered body of a setup sold on its own. There is no tank in the box and no coil, because the assumption is that you already know which atomiser you want to run on top of it. This collection holds 40 battery only devices, from simple fixed output pen batteries up to 200W regulated box mods, with verified prices in stock running from £4.99 to £35.99. Buying the mod separately is what experienced vapers do once they have settled on a tank. It lets you upgrade the power source without replacing an atomiser that already works. It also stops you paying for a bundled tank you intend to leave in a drawer. If you have never vaped before, a complete kit is the better starting point because a mod on its own will not work until you add a tank and a coil.
Regulated mods and how the chipset earns its place
Almost every mod sold today is regulated, meaning a chipset sits between the cell and the coil. That chip holds output steady as the battery drains, so the last puff before a recharge tastes like the first. It also enforces the safety cut offs that matter: short circuit, reverse polarity and over discharge protection plus a firing time limit.
Mechanical mods have no chipset at all and pass raw battery voltage straight to the coil. Nothing regulates the current and nothing stops a bad build. They belong strictly to experienced users. Every box mod in this collection is a regulated device.
Batteries: built in against removable cells
Internal batteries
An internal cell means charging over USB-C and nothing extra to buy. The Innokin T18 series and the Coolfire range use this approach. It is simpler and there is no loose cell to damage, though a flat mod ties you to a cable.
Removable 18650 and 21700 cells
A mod that takes removable cells, such as the Innokin Kroma-R, lets you carry a charged spare and swap it in seconds. Single cell mods take one 18650 or one 21700. Dual cell mods push output far higher for high wattage sub ohm vaping. Only use cells with an appropriate continuous discharge rating and never one with a torn wrap.
Wattage, voltage and temperature control
Wattage is the setting most people use day to day. It tells the chip how much power to push into the coil and it is the range printed on the side of nearly every commercial coil head. Stay inside that range and the coil will last. Push past it and the wick will char.
Temperature control is a separate mode that reads the resistance change of a stainless steel, nickel or titanium coil and throttles power once a set temperature is reached. It prevents dry hits well, though it will not function with a standard kanthal coil. A 200W device such as the Aegis Legend 3 has more headroom than most vapers use, which is not wasted money because a chip running well inside its ceiling stays cooler and holds accuracy.
The 510 connection and tank fitment
Nearly every mod here uses a 510 threaded connection, the universal standard for attaching a tank. Any 510 tank screws onto any 510 mod. What to check is the diameter of the top plate against your tank. Fit a 30mm tank to a mod with a 25mm plate and it will overhang the edges, which is cosmetic rather than dangerous.
The other point to check is a spring loaded 510 pin, which most modern mods have. It compensates for small differences between atomisers and prevents connection issues.
Build and everyday durability
Chassis materials matter more than they look. Zinc alloy and aluminium survive drops far better than plastic and a rubberised or resin panel improves grip. Some ranges, notably the Geek Vape Aegis line, are built around shock and dust resistance for site work or outdoor use.
Buying vape mods in the UK
Vaping products may only be sold to adults aged 18 and over and every order is age verified before dispatch. Vape mod questions answered
What is the difference between a vape mod and a vape kit?
A mod is the powered body only. It has a battery, a chipset and a 510 connection with no tank and no coil, so it will not produce vapour until you add an atomiser. A kit is the complete package with a tank or pod and at least one coil included. If this is your first device, buy a kit. If you already have a tank you like, buy the mod on its own.
Do I need to buy a tank separately with a mod?
Yes. Every product in this collection is a battery only device, so you will need a 510 tank and a coil to go with it. Nearly all tanks use the same 510 threading, so compatibility is rarely the issue. Check the diameter of the mod top plate against your tank so it sits flush rather than overhanging.
What does 18650 or 21700 mean on a vape mod?
Those are battery cell sizes. An 18650 cell is 18mm across and 65mm long and a 21700 is 21mm across and 70mm long, so a 21700 holds more capacity and runs longer between charges. Mods that take these cells let you carry a charged spare. Always use cells with a suitable continuous discharge rating and never use one with a damaged wrap.
How many watts should I run my coil at?
Use the range printed on the side of the coil itself. Sitting in the middle of that range gives the best balance of flavour and coil life. Running near the top produces more vapour and shortens the life of the wick. Running above the stated maximum will char the cotton within a few puffs and leave a burnt taste that does not clear.
What is temperature control mode for?
Temperature control monitors the resistance change in a stainless steel, nickel or titanium coil and cuts power once the coil reaches a set temperature. That stops dry hits when the wick runs low on liquid. It will not work with ordinary kanthal coils, because kanthal resistance barely changes with heat, so check your coil material before switching the mode on.
Is a 200W mod overkill?
For most vapers the full output will never be used, since even a heavy sub ohm setup rarely needs more than 80W. The benefit of a high ceiling is that the chipset spends its life running well within its limits, which keeps it cooler and more accurate. It also means the mod will still be capable if you move to a lower resistance build later.
Are mechanical mods included in this collection?
No. Everything listed here is a regulated device with a chipset providing short circuit, over discharge and firing time protection. Mechanical mods pass battery voltage straight to the coil with no safety circuitry and they are suitable only for experienced builders who can calculate a safe resistance and assess cell condition.
