Body lotions
GRN CBD body lotions are 250mg bottles in three scents. Mint, Lavender and Coconut. They are conventional body lotions with CBD in the formulation and are applied to clean dry skin like any other lotion.
Muscle balms
Orange County stocks two broad spectrum balms, Active Heat and Deep Freeze. Both are considerably denser than a lotion and are meant to be worked into one area rather than spread across the body. The product names describe the sensory character of the base ingredients rather than any outcome.
Extract types explained
Full spectrum keeps the full range of compounds found in the hemp plant, including trace THC within the legal limit. Broad spectrum keeps that wider range but has the THC removed. Isolate is CBD on its own with everything else stripped out. The Orange County balms in this collection are broad spectrum. Always read the individual listing rather than assuming, because extract type is a formulation decision that varies product by product.
What the milligram figure means
The mg number on a CBD product is the total CBD in the container, not the amount in a single application. A 250mg bottle of lotion holds 250mg spread across every application you get out of that bottle. Comparing two products on the mg figure alone is misleading unless the container sizes match.
How topicals are applied
Apply to clean dry skin and massage in until absorbed. Start with a small amount, because balms are far denser than lotions and go further than they look. Wash your hands afterwards if you have used a balm with a warming or cooling base. Keep every product of this kind away from your eyes and away from broken skin.
The UK position on CBD
CBD sold in the UK falls under two separate regimes. Ingestible CBD is treated as a novel food, which means a product has to appear on the Food Standards Agency public list to be sold legally. Topical CBD such as a lotion or a balm is regulated as a cosmetic instead, so the novel foods list does not apply to it. All consumer CBD sold here must also stay inside the controlled cannabinoid limits set for consumer goods.
The FSA publishes provisional advice on daily intake for ingestible CBD. That figure was originally set at 70mg a day for healthy adults and was revised down to 10mg a day in October 2023. It applies to CBD you swallow rather than CBD you rub in, so treat it as context for the wider category rather than a limit on a body lotion.
