A pre-filled pod is a sealed replacement pod that arrives with e-liquid already inside it. You take the spent pod off your device, click a fresh one on and carry on. There is no bottle, no filling port and no coil to fit separately, because the coil is built into the pod and is replaced along with it. Pre-filled pods became the mainstream format after single use vapes were prohibited from sale across the UK on 1 June 2025. The device you keep and recharge. The pod is the consumable. That split is what makes the format legal. It also makes it considerably cheaper to run than the products it replaced.
What changed on 1 June 2025
The Environmental Protection (Single-use Vapes) Regulations 2024 banned the sale of vapes that could not be both recharged and refilled or repodded. Devices with a sealed in battery and no replaceable pod came off shelves. What replaced them, almost overnight, was the pre-filled pod kit. The battery section is rechargeable over USB-C and the flavour comes from a pod you buy separately.
The practical result for vapers is that you now buy the device once and the pods repeatedly. Everything in this collection is a pod, not a complete kit.
How pre-filled pods are sold
Standard 2ml pods
UK regulations limit any pod or tank sold containing nicotine e-liquid to 2ml. That is why replacement pods for devices such as the SKE Crystal 600 Pro, the SKE Crystal Plus, the Vapengin Venus and the Vapes Bars Angel 2400 are all supplied at 2ml, typically filled at 20mg nicotine salt.
Pod and refill bottle bundles
Some brands work around the 2ml pod limit by packaging a 2ml pre-filled pod together with a 10ml bottle to top it back up. The Hula 7000 Puff and the IVG Pro 12 packs both use this approach. You get the convenience of a filled pod on day one plus enough liquid to refill it several times, which is where the puff figures in those product names come from.
Compatibility is the first thing to check
Pods are not interchangeable between brands or, in most cases, between models from the same brand. The pod has to match the shape of the device housing, the position of the magnets or clips and the contact pins. An SKE Crystal Plus pod will not fit an SKE Crystal 600 Pro. Neither of them will fit a Vapengin Venus.

Pre-filled pods against refilling
The trade off is cost against convenience. A pre-filled pod is ready to use, spill free and needs no measuring. A refillable pod kit paired with a 10ml bottle of nic salt works out considerably cheaper per millilitre, because a 10ml bottle holds five pods worth of liquid and usually costs less than a single pack of pods.
Flavour range is the other consideration. A refillable kit opens up every 10ml nic salt on the market. A pre-filled system limits you to the flavours that brand produces for that pod. Many vapers start on pre-filled pods for simplicity, then move to refillable once they know which flavour they want to stay on.
Getting the most from a pod
Let a fresh pod stand upright for five minutes after you fit it so the wick soaks properly. That single step prevents most first puff burnt tastes. Take slower, gentler draws than you would on a cigarette. Chain vaping outruns the wicking and scorches the cotton.
Store spare pods upright, out of direct sunlight and away from heat. Keep them well clear of children and pets. When a pod tastes dull or burnt it has reached the end of its life and should be replaced rather than persevered with.
The rules that apply
Pods containing nicotine e-liquid are limited to 2ml in the UK and capped at 20mg per ml. Why does a new pod taste burnt?
Almost always because it was used before the wick had absorbed the liquid. Fit the pod, then leave the device standing upright for around five minutes before the first draw. Taking long, hard puffs back to back also outruns the wicking and scorches the cotton, so a slower draw helps.
