Ijoy Coils

Showing: 3 Results

iJOY coils are the replacement atomiser heads that keep an iJOY tank or pod device working. This collection holds 3 coil packs covering the X3 sub ohm range, the 1.2 ohm Mercury heads and the coils that fit the Captain and Captain S tanks.

Compatibility is the only question that really matters on a coil page, so work from the device you already own rather than from a resistance figure. Coil families are specific to the tanks they were designed for and an iJOY head will not thread into an unrelated atomiser even where the ohm rating looks identical.

Which iJOY coil fits your device

X3 sub ohm coils

The X3 heads are sub ohm coils, which means a resistance below 1.0 ohm paired with open airflow and a direct to lung draw. They are built for vapour volume and flavour intensity at higher wattage. Feed them a thick high VG shortfill rather than a thin 50/50 liquid.

Mercury 1.2 ohm coils

At 1.2 ohm the Mercury head sits above the sub ohm threshold, which makes it a mouth to lung coil. It runs at low wattage, sips e-liquid slowly and suits balanced 50/50 blends such as a 10ml nic salt or a freebase bottle at up to 20mg per ml. This is the head to reach for if you want a tight cigarette style draw.

Captain and Captain S coils

These sub ohm heads are shared across the Captain and Captain S tanks, so one pack covers both.

Mesh against round wire

A round wire coil uses a wound strand of wire threaded through cotton. A mesh coil uses a flat perforated strip instead, which heats evenly across a much larger surface area. Mesh generally ramps faster, tastes cleaner and holds up better at higher wattage.

Priming a new coil properly

Priming is the step most people rush and it is the single most common cause of a coil burning out on day one. Drip e-liquid straight onto the exposed cotton through the wicking ports until it darkens, fit the head, fill the tank then leave the whole thing standing for a full five minutes.

How long an iJOY coil lasts

One to two weeks is normal for a mouth to lung head such as the 1.2 ohm Mercury. Sub ohm coils vaporise far more liquid per puff so they age quicker, sometimes inside a week under heavy use. Dark sweet dessert and candy e-liquids are the worst offenders because the sucralose in them caramelises onto the mesh and chokes the wicking. Lighter fruits and menthols are much kinder to a coil.

Matching e-liquid to coil resistance

The resistance decides the liquid rather than the other way round. Above 1.0 ohm you want a balanced 50/50 PG to VG blend, which in the UK means a 10ml bottle at up to 20mg per ml. Below 1.0 ohm you want a high VG shortfill at 0mg to 6mg, because thin liquid floods a sub ohm coil and runs straight out through the airflow.

Delivery and help with compatibility

Free UK delivery applies on orders over £20. If you are not certain which head your tank takes, the team can check it against your device on 07827 210361 between 8.30am and 4.00pm before you order.

iJOY coil questions answered

Which iJOY coils fit my tank?

Match the coil to the tank it was designed for. The X3 heads fit the X3 sub ohm range, the 1.2 ohm Mercury heads fit the Mercury device and the Captain heads cover both the Captain and the Captain S tanks. Coil threads and seals differ between families even when the resistance is the same, so a head from another manufacturer will not seat correctly.

What is the difference between a sub ohm and a 1.2 ohm coil?

Anything below 1.0 ohm is a sub ohm coil. It draws more power, opens the airflow and produces dense vapour on a direct to lung inhale. A 1.2 ohm head sits above that line and is built for mouth to lung vaping, so it runs at lower wattage, uses far less liquid and gives a tighter draw that feels closer to a cigarette.

How do I stop a new coil burning out?

Prime it. Drip e-liquid directly onto the cotton through the wicking ports until it is visibly saturated, fit the head, fill the tank then wait five minutes before the first puff. Start at the lower end of the wattage range printed on the coil and take short gentle draws for the first tank. Chain vaping a fresh coil is what dries the cotton out.

How often should I replace an iJOY coil?

Between one and two weeks for most people. A mouth to lung head at 1.2 ohm lasts longer than a sub ohm head because it vaporises much less liquid per puff. Sweet dessert and candy flavours shorten coil life considerably since the sweetener caramelises on the mesh. Change the coil as soon as the flavour turns dull or burnt.

Which e-liquid should I use with iJOY sub ohm coils?

Use a high VG shortfill, typically 70/30 VG to PG or thicker, at a low nicotine strength of 0mg to 6mg. Thin 50/50 liquid will leak through a sub ohm coil and flood the airflow. High strength nicotine at sub ohm wattage is also unpleasantly harsh. Save your 20mg nic salts for the 1.2 ohm mouth to lung head.

How many coils are in a pack?

Coil packs from most manufacturers contain three or five heads, though it varies by range. The exact quantity is listed on each individual product page along with the resistance and the recommended wattage band, so check there before ordering.
