GRN
GRN CBD is a topical range. This collection currently lists the brand's 250mg body lotion in three scents: Mint, Lavender and Coconut. Each lotion carries 250mg of CBD, is priced at £9.99 and is applied to the skin rather than swallowed. All three were in stock when this page was written.
Topical CBD sits in a different regulatory box to the oils, drops and edibles that get most of the attention. Because a lotion goes onto the skin instead of into the body by mouth, it is handled in the UK as a cosmetic product rather than as a novel food. What you are buying is straightforward: a body lotion with CBD in the formulation.
What CBD is
Cannabidiol, usually shortened to CBD, is one of more than a hundred naturally occurring compounds found in the hemp plant. It is not an intoxicant. THC is the compound responsible for the high associated with cannabis and it is a controlled substance here, so consumer CBD products sold in the UK may contain only trace levels of controlled cannabinoids. Established brands work to those limits and evidence them with third party laboratory testing.
Extract types explained
Full spectrum
Full spectrum extract keeps the wider profile of compounds present in the hemp plant, including trace THC within the legal limit. It is the least processed of the three and has the strongest natural hemp aroma.
Broad spectrum
Broad spectrum keeps that wider profile but the THC is stripped out during processing. It suits anyone who wants more of the plant profile with no THC present at all.
CBD isolate
Isolate is CBD refined until nothing else is left. In raw form it is a white crystalline powder with no odour or taste, which makes it easy to blend into skincare without altering the fragrance of the finished product.
Check the product page or the packaging for which type a given lotion uses, along with the batch certificate of analysis if you want to read the test results yourself.
What 250mg means on a body lotion
The milligram figure on a CBD product is the total amount of CBD in the container. It is not a dose. A 250mg lotion holds 250mg of CBD distributed through the whole bottle. The Food Standards Agency advice of no more than 70mg of CBD a day is aimed at CBD that is swallowed, so it is not the relevant measure here.
How to use a CBD body lotion
Use it exactly as you would any body moisturiser. Apply a small amount to clean dry skin and massage it in until it has absorbed. Patch test on a small area first if your skin is sensitive. Keep it away from the eyes and off broken skin. Store the bottle somewhere cool and dry with the cap closed.
The three GRN scents
Mint is the sharpest of the three and the most noticeable once it is on. Lavender is the softest, which is why most people pick it for evening use. Coconut is the sweetest and the most neutral. All three carry the same 250mg of CBD at the same price, so the choice comes down to fragrance alone.
The UK position on CBD
CBD products intended to be eaten or drunk are classed as novel foods and need Food Standards Agency authorisation before sale. Cosmetics such as body lotions fall outside that regime and are covered by cosmetic product regulations instead. Vapestore Direct sells CBD to adults aged 18 and over.
No claim is made on this page about what CBD does. UK advertising rules and cosmetic regulations do not permit medical or health claims on CBD products. Neither this page nor the product listings will make one.
GRN CBD questions answered
What is in the GRN range at the moment?
This collection currently lists three products, all of them GRN CBD 250mg body lotion. The three scents are Mint, Lavender and Coconut. Each one is priced at £9.99 and each is applied to the skin rather than swallowed.
Does 250mg mean the amount per application?
No. The 250mg figure is the total CBD in the container rather than a per use amount. Topical products are not dosed by the drop the way an oral tincture is, so you simply apply enough lotion to cover the area of skin you are putting it on.
Is CBD legal in the UK?
Yes, within limits. Products meant to be eaten or drunk are regulated as novel foods and need Food Standards Agency authorisation. Cosmetics such as body lotion are covered by cosmetic product regulations instead. All UK CBD products may contain no more than trace levels of controlled cannabinoids.
Does the 70mg a day FSA figure apply to a body lotion?
No. That Food Standards Agency guidance is aimed at CBD which is swallowed, such as oils, capsules and drinks. A lotion is applied to the skin, so the figure is not the relevant measure. It is still sensible to follow the usage guidance printed on the packaging.
Will a CBD body lotion affect a drug test?
Standard drug tests look for THC rather than CBD. Products made with full spectrum extract can carry trace THC within the legal limit. If you are subject to workplace testing, check the certificate of analysis for the batch and raise it with your employer or testing provider first.
Do I need to be 18 to buy CBD?
Yes. Vapestore Direct sells CBD products to adults aged 18 and over only. Every order is age checked before it is dispatched. UK delivery is free on orders over £20 and the team is on 07827 210361 between 8.30am and 4.00pm.
