A rebuildable is a different proposition from a sub ohm tank. Nothing arrives pre-coiled. You pick the wire, set the resistance, wick it and tune the airflow to suit the build. In return you get flavour and airflow control that no factory coil can match, along with running costs measured in pence once the atomiser itself is paid for.
RDA, RTA and RDTA explained
An RDA is a rebuildable dripping atomiser. The deck sits under a cap with no reservoir, so you drip liquid onto the cotton every dozen puffs or feed it from a squonk bottle. That gives the purest flavour and the fastest flavour changes. An RTA is a rebuildable tank atomiser, where a glass section feeds the wick tails so it behaves like a tank between refills. The Nightmare Dual Coil RDA comes in a 28mm full size version and a 25mm Mini, both dual coil decks. Running two coils splits the airflow either side of each build and gives a warmer, denser vape for the same total resistance. The Ripsaw RDA 28mm is the collaboration with Bearded Viking. Single coil versus dual coil decks
Single coil decks are easier to build, cheaper to run and usually give the more focused flavour because all the airflow is aimed at one coil. Dual coil decks ramp up faster and produce more vapour, at the cost of double the wire and a fiddlier build. For a first rebuildable, single coil is the sensible starting point.
Fitment, diameter and mod pairing
All of these atomisers use a standard 510 connection. Diameter is the thing to check against your mod. A 28mm RDA will overhang the top plate of most 24mm and 25mm mods, which is cosmetic rather than dangerous but worth knowing before you order. A 25mm Mini or the 24mm Ether will sit flush on far more devices. If you plan to squonk, confirm that the atomiser you choose is supplied with a bottom feed pin on its listing.
Capacity, nicotine and the 2ml rule
UK regulations cap the capacity of a tank supplied for use with nicotine e-liquid at 2ml, which is why RTAs sold here are supplied in a compliant capacity. An RDA holds no reservoir at all so there is nothing to measure. Whatever you drip or squonk still has to obey the wider rules: nicotine e-liquid is capped at 20mg per ml and sold in bottles of 10ml or less, while nicotine free shortfills can be larger. Most rebuildable builds sit below 1.0 ohm, so 3mg to 6mg is the usual strength rather than a nic salt.
Building safely
Check every build on an ohm reader before you fire it. Confirm the resistance is what you intended, look for shorts against the cap, then pulse gently and strum the coils so they glow from the centre out. Dry hits and leaking almost always come down to wicking rather than to the atomiser.

What is the difference between an RDA and an RTA?
An RDA has a build deck and no liquid reservoir, so you drip onto the cotton or feed it from a squonk bottle every handful of puffs. An RTA has a glass section that feeds the wick tails automatically, so it behaves like a tank between refills. RDAs give the cleanest flavour and the quickest flavour changes. RTAs are more practical for all day carry.
Do Suicide Mods atomisers come with coils fitted?
No. A rebuildable is supplied as a bare deck with spares such as screws, o rings and often a small amount of accessory hardware. You supply the wire and the cotton, wrap the coil to the resistance you want, then wick it yourself. That is the point of the format, because it lets you tune resistance and airflow instead of accepting a factory coil.
What size mod do I need for a 28mm RDA?
A 28mm atomiser sits wider than the top plate of most 24mm and 25mm mods, so it will overhang. That is cosmetic rather than a safety issue as long as the 510 connection is sound. If a flush fit matters, the 25mm Nightmare Mini or the 24mm Ether will sit neatly on far more devices.
What resistance should I build to?
For a single coil RDA on a regulated mod, 0.3 ohm to 0.5 ohm covers most tastes and runs comfortably at 25W to 55W. Dual coil decks land lower for the same wire because the coils sit in parallel. Always read the finished build on an ohm reader and stay inside the safe output of your mod before firing it.
Can I use nicotine e-liquid in an RDA?
Yes, within the UK limits. Nicotine e-liquid is capped at 20mg per ml and sold in bottles of 10ml or less. Because rebuildable builds are usually sub ohm, 3mg to 6mg freebase in a high VG base is the normal choice. High strength nic salts are designed for tight mouth to lung coils and will feel harsh on an RDA.
Are rebuildables suitable for a beginner?
They are a step up rather than a starting point. You need an ohm reader, wire, cotton and a working understanding of resistance and battery limits before building anything. Anyone new to vaping is better served by a pod kit or a sub ohm tank with factory coils. A single coil RDA is the natural next move after that.
