10ml Vape Juice

The size is not a marketing decision. Why 10ml is the standard size

The two types of 10ml bottle

Nicotine salt

Nicotine salt is the larger half of this collection by a wide margin. An acid, usually benzoic acid, is added to the nicotine, which lowers the pH of the finished liquid. The practical effect is smoothness. A 20mg salt is comfortable in a small pod kit in a way that 20mg of freebase never would be. Salts are also absorbed more quickly, which suits the short, frequent draws that pod vaping encourages. Standard strengths are 10mg and 20mg, with 5mg appearing in some ranges.

50/50 freebase

Freebase is nicotine in its unmodified form. It gives a firmer, more assertive throat hit, which some ex-smokers actively prefer because it is closer to the sensation of a cigarette. The trade off is that it becomes harsh as the strength climbs, so 12mg is generally the practical ceiling. Typical strengths run 3mg, 6mg, 12mg and 18mg. Choosing a strength

Almost all 10ml bottles are blended at or close to 50/50 VG to PG. That thin consistency is what lets them wick through the narrow ports found on pod kits, mouth to lung tanks and vape pens. As a rule, if the coil is rated above 1.0 ohm and the device runs below about 20 watts, a 10ml bottle is what it wants.

The reverse is also worth stating plainly. Do not put a 20mg salt into a sub ohm device. A coil below 1.0 ohm vaporises several times more liquid per puff, so the nicotine delivered goes far beyond what the strength was designed for. Sub ohm hardware belongs with high VG shortfills at 3mg or 6mg. Thin 50/50 liquid in a large sub ohm tank will also leak and spit.
