Aspire coil families and what fits what
Compatibility across Aspire is family based rather than device based. A coil is engineered around a fitment and a head shape, so one coil often covers several products in the range.
Nautilus coils
Nautilus is the long running Aspire platform for mouth to lung vaping. The coils push in rather than thread in and sit broadly in the 0.7 ohm to 1.8 ohm bracket. Later heads moved to mesh while earlier versions stayed with round wire. Nautilus 3 and Nautilus 3SR tanks take Nautilus 3 heads.
BVC coils
BVC stands for bottom vertical coil, the design used across the early Aspire clearomisers. These heads screw into the base instead of pushing in and sit at higher resistances suited to low wattage pens.
AF mesh coils
The AF series is the newer mesh format built for restricted draws at modest power. Mesh presents a far larger heated surface than a wound wire, so the cotton wets evenly and the whole face reaches temperature at once. That means fuller flavour at the same wattage plus a shorter warm up on the first draw of the day.
Gotek and Pixo pods
Gotek X, Gotek X 2 and Gotek X 3 use pods with the coil built in rather than a separate head. Pixo takes an XL pod on the same principle. You replace the whole pod when flavour drops off, which costs slightly more per change but removes any chance of fitting the wrong part.
Resistance, wattage and draw style
Resistance is the number that decides how a coil behaves. At or above 1.0 ohm you have a mouth to lung coil running around 10W to 15W with a tight restricted draw. Below 1.0 ohm you have a sub ohm coil that wants more power, opens the airflow and gets through liquid much faster. Every Aspire coil carries a printed wattage window. Start at the bottom of it and climb in single watt steps until the flavour lands.
Priming and coil life
Drip e-liquid onto every exposed wicking port until the cotton visibly darkens. Fit the coil, fill the tank or pod, then stand the device upright for five minutes. A dry hit on the first pull damages the cotton permanently.
One to two weeks is realistic for a mouth to lung coil in daily use. Sub ohm heads often need changing weekly. Sweet bakery, custard and candy flavours carry sucralose that caramelises onto the mesh and can halve coil life, while clean fruits and menthols are far gentler. Flat or acrid flavour, thinner vapour and a hot draw are the reliable signals.
Matching e-liquid to your device
Coil resistance sets the liquid rather than personal preference. Heads above 1.0 ohm want a balanced 50/50 PG to VG blend, which in the UK means a 10ml bottle of nic salt or freebase e-liquid at up to 20mg per ml. Sub ohm heads below 1.0 ohm need a thicker high VG shortfill, usually 70/30, at 0mg to 6mg once a nicotine shot goes in. Thin liquid in a sub ohm coil leaks past the seals. Thick liquid in a 1.6 ohm Nautilus head starves the wick.

Which coils fit my Aspire Nautilus tank?
Nautilus coils are grouped by generation rather than by tank name. Nautilus 3 and Nautilus 3SR tanks take Nautilus 3 heads while older tanks in the line use the earlier style. The simplest check is to pull out the coil you have and read the printing on its side, because Aspire marks both the family and the resistance there.
What is the difference between BVC and mesh Aspire coils?
A BVC coil is a bottom vertical coil built around a single wound wire that screws into the base of older Aspire clearomisers. A mesh coil such as the AF series uses a perforated strip, which spreads heat evenly across a much larger surface and usually gives fuller flavour with a faster ramp up at the same wattage.

Can I use nic salts in an Aspire pod kit?
Yes, provided the pod or coil is rated above 1.0 ohm. Nic salt is normally a 50/50 PG to VG blend that wicks easily through the tighter channels used in mouth to lung pods. UK nic salts come in 10ml bottles at up to 20mg per ml. Sub ohm pods below 1.0 ohm want a low strength high VG shortfill instead.
Do Aspire Gotek pods contain their own coil?
Yes. Gotek X pods and Pixo XL pods have the coil built into the pod body, so there is no separate head to fit. When the flavour fades you swap the whole pod. That costs a little more per change than a bare coil but it removes any risk of ordering the wrong part.
Will an Aspire tank fit a mod from another brand?
If the tank uses a 510 connection it threads onto any standard 510 mod regardless of maker. The Nautilus 3SR is a 510 tank. Check the diameter against your mod top plate to avoid overhang and check the coil wattage range against what the mod delivers. Pod kits are different because their pods are proprietary.
