Can Help You Quit Smoking

Smoking is widely reported as the number one preventable cause of death in the world. It leads to numerous health issues such as lung cancer and heart disease plus many more. Vaping is widely recognised as one of the most effective ways to quit your smoking habits by replacing traditional cigarettes with a familiar sensation through inhalation and nicotine intake, but without any of the large number of toxic ingredients that are found in traditional tobacco products.

Whilst some liquids contain nicotine which can be an addictive substance, nicotine itself is relatively harmless. Nicotine replacement therapy has been widely used for many years to help people stop smoking. The use of e-cigarettes has been an effective method with greater success than some other available nicotine replacement therapy options.

Less Harmful Than Smoking

Various studies have been conducted over the last few years after the rising prominence of e-cigarette use. Many of these studies show that vaping is far less harmful to you and your lungs than cigarettes. Organisations such as Public Health England, NHS, British Heart Foundation & more have come forward with recommendations and studies into the benefits of vaping when compared to traditional smoking. E-cigarettes do not produce tar or carbon monoxide which are two of the most harmful elements from tobacco smoke.

Can Save You Money

Cost is another main factor when it comes to making the switch. There is generally an initial setup cost to purchase the device and any relevant accessories you may require but then it is much cheaper on average per week purchasing e-liquid, when compared to the cost spent on cigarettes. With the rising cost of cigarettes in many countries, some users can save thousands every year depending on how much you were smoking before!

The current cost for a 20 pack of cigarettes is £13.30. If you smoke 20 a day, this is multiplied by 365, meaning over the course of a year it costs a staggering £4,854.50!

Now if we compare this to vaping you could potentially save up to £3,489.05!* Even when you factor in the initial start-up costs, the savings can be very significant. Just imagine what you could do with that money now it isn’t literally going up in smoke.

*This saving is based on this worded example only, depending on your consumption and purchases, each user will experience various levels of savings. This is to show you how to work out your potential saving with vaping vs smoking.

Personal Hygiene Benefits

There are also other benefits to making the switch besides the obvious effects on your personal health like improved respiratory and circulatory systems. Smokers often suffer from bad breath, damaged teeth, discoloured fingernails and other negative effects on your skin. Vaping has none of these additional drawbacks! There is no lingering odour on clothing or furniture either unlike smoking.

Your body will take time to adjust and recover from the months or years of tobacco smoke it has endured, it can be an ongoing process but over time your reduced exposure to tobacco smoke will have a positive effect on your health.

You can also do further research online to other improvements you would expect to see to your health over time.

Is E-cigarette Vapour Harmful to Others?

There is no evidence so far that vaping cause’s harm to other people around you. This is in contrast to second hand smoke from smoking, which is known to be very harmful.

We would still recommend using vape devices outside where possible. This provides a cleaner environment when compared to smoking, and heavy smokers who smoke at home will notice cigarettes cause damage and discolouration to furniture and painted surfaces, this is because smoke can linger for up to 30 minutes after being exhaled. This also gives greater risk to others, exposing them to over 7000 chemicals found in second hand smoke, 70 of which are known carcinogens.

E-cigarettes do not cause damage or discolouration as vapour dissipates and breaks down within seconds. Current evidence shows effects of second hand vapour to be negligible but some health professionals still advise to avoid vaping where possible around pregnant women and young children. We would recommend this too.

Easier to Quit Smoking Over Time

Vaping has great popularity among those seeking to quit, primarily for the main reason of not having to jump in the deep end and go 100% cold-turkey! You can smoke and vape at the same time but we would recommend that you try to use vaping as the primary source to itch those cravings as much as possible. When it comes to decreasing your consumption, e-cigarettes are much more flexible and you can adjust your intake of nicotine much easier due to e-liquids coming in a number of different strengths. This means you can adjust if over time in a way that suits you. With cigarettes they do not usually offer the same flexibility making more difficult to decrease over time.

Some users still enjoy vaping even once they have been able to fully quit smoking and cut out nicotine completely, continuing to enjoy the flavours, or simply just the physical action and sensation of continuing to vape helps keep those cravings at bay.
